In the Nineteenth Century, laundry was quite a task.  Women soaked clothes in washtubs of water overnight.  The next morning was spent scrubbing the clothes on a washboard with lye soap for hours. The clothes were then boiled. Once cleaned they were rinsed twice and line dried.

Laundry isn't quite so difficult now but still socks, undershirts, bloomers... it all piles up.  I usually have to designate a day as "Laundry Day" just to get it all done.  I've found that this is the case with most people.  There are a few ways to take care of this:
